The heavy nuclear-powered strategic missile submarine “Dmitry Donskoy” solves combat training tasks during its sailing, said Vladimir Maltsev, head of the All-Russian Fleet Support Movement. This is how he reacted to media publications about the withdrawal of the submarine from the combat strength of the Navy.
The submarine “Dmitry Donskoy” was included in the combat composition of the fleet in 1980 as part of project 941. In terms of displacement, it is the largest in the world – 48 thousand tons.
“Despite the statements of a number of media about the withdrawal of the Dmitry Donskoy submarine cruiser from the Navy, it is currently successfully solving combat training tasks during the next sea trip,” said Mr. Maltsev. TASS.
This information was also confirmed to the agency by a source in the shipbuilding industry. According to him, the withdrawal from the Belomorsk naval base took place on August 1. According to TASS, “Dmitry Donskoy” will solve combat training tasks until at least December 1, 2022. A decision on its future fate may be made at the end of 2022.
A RIA Novosti source in the military-industrial complex in July reported the withdrawal of the submarine from the combat strength of the Navy. The agency claimed that “Dmitry Donskoy” would be disposed of.
