Finland will prematurely return two pandas to China due to financial problems caused in part by the conflict in Ukraine, reports Yle.
“According to the zoo management, this decision is related to several factors. Among them are the coronavirus pandemic, a decrease in tourist numbers, as well as inflation and rising interest rates caused by the conflict in Ukraine,” the article states.
The article notes that the pandas Lumi and Pyry will stay at the Jahtihari zoo in Finland until the end of autumn, and then they will be sent into quarantine before departing for China.
