Gas stations are trying to compensate for past losses, so they are in no hurry to reduce fuel prices following the wholesale. This was stated at SPIEF by the head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia Maxim Shaskolsky.

“In the wholesale market, prices are declining quite noticeably; in the retail market, we do not see this change yet,” he said.

Some independent companies in the regions have reduced prices, but not as much as it happened in wholesale. However, independent gas stations can be justified by the fact that they have been operating at a loss for almost a year, he added.

The gasoline market is gradually developing a situation with a fuel surplus. However, there will be no oversupply – partners can reduce production volumes.
