Along with this, it was also informed that the Central Government has only allowed them to manufacture the vaccine and asked them to prepare the reserves for its use in the future. The SSI has described the media report as incorrect and baseless.
Recently some media houses had claimed that the Covid-19 vaccine Kovishield will be available in 73 days. Citing these claims, the Serum Institute of India issued a statement saying that the current claims and assumptions made in the media about the availability of Kovishield are completely wrong. Presently, the government has allowed us to manufacture only the vaccine and stockpile for its use in future.

Covering the aspect of the Osford-AstraZeneca vaccine, SII said in its statement that a Phase III trial for the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine (Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine) is underway. When this vaccine proves to be immune and effective, SII will officially confirm its availability.
It is to be known that the Serum Institute of India is currently conducting a Phase III clinical trial for its vaccine covicild at 17 different locations in India. These include the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) based in Chandigarh.
