Ex-Prime Minister Tusk: PiS head Kaczynski has plans to withdraw Poland from the EU

Chairman of Poland’s ruling Law and Justice Party (PiS) Jaroslaw Kaczynski has plans to withdraw the country from the EU, said the leader of the Polish opposition, former prime minister of the republic, ex-president of the European Council Donald Tusk October 5 at a meeting with voters.

He emphasized that everything is ready to implement the corresponding plan. Tusk suggested that for Poland the process of leaving the EU “will be 100 times worse than for Britain.”

The politician noted that about 80% of Polish citizens support the country’s membership in the European Union, since “there was a river of money from there and the borders were open.” The former prime minister also clarified that the current legislation of Poland allows the country to withdraw from the EU without holding a referendum.

He added that the procedure could be triggered by a “simple vote” in the Polish parliament.
