Ex-deputy head of the Ministry of Defense Department for State Defense Orders sentenced to five years in prison

The Moscow garrison military court sentenced to five years in prison the former deputy head of the Department of Defense Department for Ensuring State Defense Orders (DOGOZ), reserve colonel Leonid Kharlamov, who is accused of receiving especially large bribes. It is reported by TASS.

It was established that in 2019, Kharlamov received bribes every month for general patronage and the inclusion of companies in the number of executors of government contracts. The court found him guilty of taking large bribes and sentenced him to five years in prison to be served in a strict regime colony. The court took into account Kharlamov’s admission of guilt, the conclusion of a deal with the investigation, as well as the presence of gratitude, state awards and participation in hostilities in Syria.

In addition, the defendant was stripped of his military rank of “colonel”, and three million rubles confiscated from him and property worth more than two million rubles were turned over to the state.

As Parlamentskaya Gazeta reported earlier, the court sentenced the son of lawyer Astakhov to 3.5 years in prison for fraud. It was found that in 2019, the accused, together with his business partner, helped the head of one of the companies obtain a loan in the amount of 75 million rubles – he stole 74 of them.
