The European Commission has proposed a new project to provide financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 8 billion euros. This is reported by the European edition Politico.
This project was developed after Germany refused to issue loan guarantees for Ukraine in the amount of up to 9 billion euros. The German government justified this by saying that Ukraine is already mired in debt and grants are more suitable for them.
According to the new project, Europe will allocate up to 5 billion in long-term loans against guarantees issued by EU member states. The remaining 3 billion will be provided in the form of grants.
