EU should rename peace fund to war fund – Nebenzya

The European Union should rename the European Peace Fund into a war fund after a proposal to contribute an additional €3.5 billion to it to pay for military supplies to Kyiv. This opinion was expressed by the Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Vasily Nebenzya.

“The same (EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep) Borrell offered to allocate € 3.5 billion for additional funding from the European Peace Fund, the funds from which are used to pay for military supplies to Ukraine. It’s time to call a spade a spade and rename the European Peace Fund into the European War Fund”, – the Russian diplomat pointed out at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

The day before, Borrell called for € 3.5 billion to be allocated for additional financing of the European Peace Fund, which is formed from contributions from member countries of the European Union. The Foundation provides significant military support to Kyiv. According to Reuters, Borrkel addressed the governments of the EU countries with a corresponding request.
