Erdogan told Putin about a “new page” in Russian-Turkish relations


    Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi, said that they have to open a new page in cooperation.

    “Our talks today are important given the role that Turkey and Russia play in the region surrounding them. I hope they open a new page in bilateral relations. We plan to discuss relations between the two countries in all areas and put an end to the question of how to move forward,” — Erdogan said.

    He also noted that one of the topics of negotiations with Putin will be the Syrian issue. For Ankara, as the Turkish leader stressed, the topic of “fighting terrorism” in the region is very important.

    Recall that talks between Putin and Erdogan started today in Sochi. During the meeting, the Russian leader called the Turkish Stream one of the most important routes for supplying Russian gas to Europe. The President of the Russian Federation also noted that through the mediation of Erdogan, an agreement was reached on the supply of grain.
