Erdogan refuses to participate in the summit of the European political community – Kommersant

Re-elected Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will not travel to Moldova to attend the European Political Community (EPC) summit. This is reported Politico referring to three officials involved in the preparations for the event.

The summit is scheduled for June 1-2. Politico notes that the refusal of the Turkish leader to participate was received “in the last minutes.” The reasons for the refusal are not specified.

The ENP Summit will be held in Chisinau. Moldovan Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu said that the summit will be attended by heads of 44 states and governments out of 50 invited.

The European Political Community is an organization created by French President Emmanuel Macron in May 2022. In particular, it presupposes the joint strengthening of security and stability. The ENP includes, among other things, countries that are not members of the EU – Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine, Moldova.
