The Investigative Committee will open a case due to the desecration of the grave of a WWII hero in Moldova

MOSCOW, 26 Feb – Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin ordered to initiate a criminal case into the desecration of the grave of a participant in the Great Patriotic War in Moldova, reports the Telegram channel departments.
Earlier in February, the head of the national organizing committee “Victory” and the search movement of Moldova, Alexei Petrovich, reported that vandals in Chisinau damaged the obelisk on the grave of the Great Patriotic War hero of the Guard, Captain Andrei Kolbinsky, the granite slab installed by the colleagues of the deceased officer was torn from the pedestal, but was not damaged.
“The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed the main investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia to initiate a criminal case on this fact and, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, establish all the circumstances of what happened,” the message says.
Previously, the Russian Embassy has repeatedly expressed concern about acts of vandalism associated with the desecration or destruction of graves and monuments to Soviet soldiers in Moldova. The embassy condemned this act of vandalism, and also expressed the hope that illegal acts will not remain without due attention from the country’s law enforcement agencies, and that the perpetrators will be found and punished.
