President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed his supporters at a rally in Ankara on the occasion of his victory in the second round of the presidential election. In his speech, he announced the victory of democracy and recalled the proposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin to build a gas hub.
Mr. Erdogan started the performance by singing the song Duyanlara Duymayanlara. “We are not the only ones who have won. Turkey won, democracy won! There were no losers in the elections on May 28, all the 85 million people of Turkey won,” he said (quoted from “Anadolu”).
At the rally, according to Mr. Erdogan himself, 320 thousand people gathered. He believes that his victory showed the failure of “dirty games”. “Did German, French, British magazines not toss covers to destroy Erdogan? They also lost. You have seen what alliances have been formed against us for several months. You saw who was with whom,” the Turkish leader said (translation “RIA News”).
The Turkish President promised to continue strengthening the country’s position in the energy and transport sector at the global level. “In his congratulatory message, Mr. Putin repeated the question of Turkey, namely Thrace, becoming a “gas hub”. We will take this step with them. Thrace will be the center,” Mr. Erdogan said.
The Turkish leader at the rally also promised to reduce inflation. In his opinion, this issue is “the most urgent”.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan was congratulated on his victory by Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Joe Biden, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog, European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, leaders of several European countries, leaders of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, heads of government of Scandinavia and leaders of other countries.
