Elon Musk suggested not to jail for drugs

SpaceX founder Elon Musk commented on the intentions of the US government to release basketball player Brittney Griner, who was sentenced to prison in Russia on a drug case. He expressed his opinion in YouTube channel Full Send Podcast.

The businessman noted that it would be fair if the US authorities released those who are imprisoned because of drugs on the territory of their state.

“If we really want to release our basketball player, who was imprisoned in Russia for some kind of weed, then maybe we should also release those who are imprisoned in America for the same thing?” he stressed.

Musk also expressed the opinion that non-violent crimes should not be severely punished at all. If there are no victims, then you can do without a prison term.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden called the sentence of American basketball player Brittney Griner unacceptable. He considers the decision of the court erroneous.

Greiner received nine years in prison and a million-ruble fine for trying to smuggle drugs into Russia. The athlete pleaded guilty.
