The regulatory framework for public procurement of food products and school catering services should be improved in terms of the quality of purchased products. This was stated by the Chairman of the Committee of the Federation Council on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management Alexander Dvoinykh.

According to the press service of the Federation Council, the senator came up with such an initiative at a meeting to develop measures to improve the system of children, including school and preschool nutrition. According to him, the committee he heads is monitoring the law on 100% coverage of primary school students with free hot meals, which was developed by Federation Council Chairwoman Valentina Matviyenko and State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.

Law enforcement practice under this document suggests that it is being implemented successfully – a legal basis has been created for it, the necessary funds have been allocated in the budget, but some points need to be finalized, Dvoinykh noted.

“It is necessary to improve the regulatory framework for state and municipal procurement of food products and catering services for students in educational institutions, based primarily on the criteria for the safety and quality of purchased products,” he believes.
