Driver’s license expired in 2022 and 2023 extended for three years in Russia

Automatic renewal of driver’s licenses for three years, whose term expired in 2022 or will take place this year, is introduced to reduce the administrative burden on the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the convenience of drivers. Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kolokoltsev at the expanded board of the department, he noted that the innovation will affect all Russian driver’s licenses. However, if the deadline has passed before January 1, 2022, the driver will still have to submit all the necessary documents to obtain a new license.

Earlier, the traffic police reported that the number of people wishing to obtain international driver’s licenses doubled in 2022 – from 82.6 thousand to 179 thousand people.
