DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions published the first results of the referenda

In the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of Ukraine, the first results of referendums on joining Russia have been published. The majority of citizens voted for joining the Russian Federation.

  • in the Zaporozhye region for – 98.19% (data from 18% of the vote)
  • in the DPR for – 97.91% (data from 14% of the votes)
  • in the LPR for – 97.82% (data from 13% of the votes)
  • in the Kherson region for – 96.97% (data from 14% of the vote)

Referendums were held from 23 September to 27 September. On September 26, the head of the State Duma Committee on Security, Anatoly Vyborny, admitted that after the referendums on the accession of these territories to Russia, a counter-terrorist operation regime could be introduced in the “new subjects”. This opinion was expressed by the head of the Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov. The head of the LPR, Leonid Pasechnik, said that the authorities of the republic would decide on the need to introduce martial law together with Russia. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that after the referendums in the Ukrainian territories, negotiations with Russia would be impossible.
