The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was visited by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Donetsk People’s Republic in Russia Olga Makeeva. In a conversation with the FAN, which is part of the Patriot Media Group, she spoke about the primary tasks of the republic after eight years of hostilities.
The participation of the DPR in SPIEF, according to Makeeva, is of invaluable importance not only for the republic, but also for its inhabitants. Moreover, this is the first significant event in the life of the new state recognized by Russia.
“We feel that the republic is here as a recognized, sovereign state. We have many interests and issues that need to be addressed quickly and vigorously today. This forum is a platform of opportunities for building new connections, searching for new contacts, and developing those contacts that we already have. The number of agreements that we conclude within a few days indicates that many regions of the Russian Federation with a big heart, with great desire, are cooperating with us, developing the relations that have been established over the course of eight years, ”shared Makeeva .
According to the ambassador, one of the main issues on the republic’s agenda is the issue of restoring industry, social infrastructure and housing. Given eight years of endless shelling, these areas require special attention. By the way, progress has already been made in this direction.
“Yesterday’s conclusion of an agreement with the Ministry of Construction and Housing of the Russian Federation is certainly aimed at ensuring that we have the opportunity to restore thousands of objects. More than 27 thousand objects were damaged before February of this year, ”the FAN interlocutor emphasized.
In addition, Olga Makeeva noted that the Donetsk region is far behind Russia, and now there is a lot to catch up.
“I cannot say that there is a direction of life that does not require interaction. All eight years the Russian Federation has been developing, all eight years we have been trying to save our lives. At the same time, we managed to preserve industry and production. Now we have new opportunities, new forces and new wings,” the DPR Ambassador concluded.
Heads of the republics of Donbass Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik also visited the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Politicians talked to local journalists and other guests of the event.
