Vladimir Gusev, who has headed the Russian Museum for more than 30 years, will become its president, the institution’s press service said on Friday.
It is noted that as president, Gusev will coordinate the restoration work in museums and the development of branches.
“The planned transition of Vladimir Alexandrovich to this position took place in accordance with his personal appeal to the Ministry of Culture of Russia and is associated with the completion of the labor contract,” Interfax quotes the press service as saying. It is noted that Anna Tsvetkova, Deputy Director for Development, Enlightenment and Educational Activities, has been appointed acting director.
Gusev was born in 1945 in the city of Kalinin (Tver). He has been working at the Russian Museum since 1978 and has been director since 1988.
Earlier it became known that Elena Pronicheva was appointed the new general director of the Tretyakov Gallery. She will replace Zelfira Tregulova in this position, whose employment contract has expired. The Ministry of Culture added that she would have to continue the development of the Tretyakov Gallery and its branches.
