Detainee for burning the Koran in Volgograd was taken to a pre-trial detention center in Grozny

19-year-old student Nikita Zhuravel, accused of burning the Koran in Volgograd, was taken to a pre-trial detention center in the capital of Chechnya. Residents of the region gathered near the pre-trial detention center, TASS reports, without specifying their number.

According to investigators, the Koran was burned near the Cathedral Mosque in Volgograd no later than May 19. On this day, a video of the incident appeared on the Internet, which depicts a certain person (only his hand is visible). The ICR opened a case under Part 2 of Art. 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (insulting the feelings of believers). During the interrogation, Nikita Zhuravel stated that he carried out the action “on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services for a reward of 10 thousand rubles.” The Central District Court of Volgograd arrested him for two months, and the case was transferred to Chechnya.
