Deputy of the State Duma explained why Wagner PMC should be recognized as an official organization

In Russia, it is necessary to recognize and legislate the existence of private military companies (PMCs). This was stated by the chairman of the party, head of the Just Russia – For Truth faction in the State Duma, Sergei Mironov.

“We are convinced that PMCs should have an official status. It is necessary to recognize their existence, to fix it at the legislative level. <…> The legalization of such structures is an inevitable process,” Mironov said. His words are reported by RIA Novosti.

The deputy noted that with the help of the legislative regulation of the status of PMCs, the fighters will have a desire to take a more active part in protecting the rights and freedoms of Russian citizens abroad. Also, the official status will help in defending the interests of Russia in the zone of a special military operation.

Earlier in the Kremlin, PMC “Wagner” was called a volunteer formation. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that PMCs will be subject to a fine for discrediting volunteers.
