Scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences and industrial and experimental tests have repeatedly proved the absolute safety of cell towers for human life and health. Anton Nemkin, coordinator of the ER federal project Digital Russia, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, announced this to Parliamentary Newspaper.

The State Duma deputy commented on the initiative of the deputies of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, who want to give Rospotrebnadzor the authority to regularly monitor the radiation of cell towers, and not just the right to initially coordinate their installation. The deputies are preparing a corresponding appeal to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Anton Nemkin emphasized that, according to experts, before installing a base station in any territory, a telecom operator receives an opinion from Rospotrebnadzor. Without such a conclusion, it is impossible to install a tower. Each base station in Russia complies with SanPiN standards.

The parliamentarian recalled that back in 2020, the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution NII MT, as part of research work, conducted pilot studies to assess the electromagnetic situation in six residential microdistricts of Moscow. Then the impact of base stations that operate in the 2G-5G standard was evaluated. The study showed that the level of exposure does not exceed the hygienic standards for the population.

“The dismantling of cell towers in the areas of children’s educational institutions is absolutely inexpedient. Scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences and industrial and experimental tests have repeatedly proved their absolute safety for human life and health. There is something else to keep in mind as well. If, overly reinsured, we eliminate these objects of urban infrastructure, we may face a situation where these objects will be out of coverage of the network, and parents will lose contact with their children. And this can lead to much more dangerous situations – in the event of the actions of intruders, children will not be able to quickly contact either their parents or the rescue services, ”Nemkin emphasized.
