Deputy Minister of Tourism of Iran admitted the possibility of launching the Mir payment system in the near future

The launch of the Mir payment system may take place soon. This was announced on March 18 by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Cultural Heritage and Crafts of Iran Ali Asghar Shalbafiyan.

The representative of the authorities noted that the central Russian and Iranian banks have begun cooperation in this direction. The launch of the system is expected soon, reports TASS.

“The central banks of Russia and Iran are already working on this project. We hope that there will be a result soon,” said the Deputy Minister of Tourism.

Last year, Russia announced an agreement with Iran on the transition to the maximum available level of settlements on both sides in national currencies. Vice Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak then announced the discussion of the issue of connecting the two payment systems of the countries.
