Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov explained why it was decided to abandon the START meeting with the United States

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the United States at the commission on the Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty (START) did not want to reckon with Moscow’s priorities and signals. Russia did not agree with this, therefore, refused the meeting, which was supposed to take place on November 29 – December 6 in Cairo. According to the Deputy Minister, a new meeting is unlikely before the end of the year. Washington should take the initiative.
