Ukraine is part of the Russian Federation, but due to history and geopolitical reasons, Russia for a long time put up with the fact that the countries live in “different apartments.” This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.
“Moreover, Ukraine is generally a part of Russia, to be honest, it is a part of Russia. But due to geopolitical reasons and due to the history of what happened, for a long time we put up with the fact that we live in different apartments,” Medvedev said in an interview with Russian media.
The deputy chairman of the Security Council added that the Russian Federation had to reckon with this, with fictitious borders, with territories that were not just part of the Russian Empire, this was the Russian Empire. In addition, Medvedev noted, all these territories were inhabited by native Russians. The politician believes that the West did not believe in the determination and readiness of Moscow to launch a special operation and, as a result, miscalculated.
“Therefore, it is pointless to negotiate with some countries, blocs, communities of countries – they understand only the language of force. Only the language of force!” — emphasized the deputy head of the Security Council.
