Democrats ask intelligence to assess damage from Trump’s storage of documents on the estate

House Committee Chairs Carolyn Maloney and Adam Schiff (both Democratic) have asked US Director of National Intelligence Avril Haynes to assess the damage caused by ex-President Donald Trump’s possession of classified documents on his estate. This became known after searches conducted by the FBI on the personal instructions of Justice Department Minister Merrick Garland.

“The behavior of former President Trump has potentially put our national security at serious risk. This matter requires a full review in addition to the ongoing investigation by law enforcement agencies, ”says the letter from the chairmen of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Committee on Intelligence of the US House of Representatives (quoted from Reuters).

A search of Mr. Trump’s estate in Florida took place on August 9. The former head of state is suspected of violating the Espionage Law. It is alleged that 11 sets of documents with classified information were seized from his house.

About the search – in the material “Kommersant” “Secret in the closet.”
