The deal between the administration of President Joe Biden and the Republicans to raise the US national debt ceiling will not affect American financial assistance to Ukraine. This was announced today, May 30, by the head of the White House Budget Office, Shalanda Young.
Asked by reporters if she expects the partisan deal to affect the administration’s ability to raise additional funding for Ukraine, the White House spokeswoman said, “No, I don’t think so.”
Young noted that the Biden administration is urging both houses of Congress to approve a bill that provides for an increase in the national debt ceiling until January 1, 2025, and send it to the US president for signature.
