The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia provided an updated information the consequences of the explosions at the Surmalu market in Yerevan. In recent hours, four more bodies have been recovered from the rubble, a total of 14 people have died. 18 people, including a Russian woman, are still missing.
More than 60 people were injured. 12 of them remain in hospitals. Search and rescue operations continue, more than 170 people are involved in them.
The explosion took place in the Surmalu market in Yerevan on August 14. The fire in the main multi-storey building has been extinguished, but “smoldering hearths” remain. The authorities do not regard the incident as a terrorist attack, but do not give other possible reasons.
