Criminal case of “Skopinsky maniac” on concealment of murder submitted to court

The investigation of the criminal case of Viktor Mokhov, known as the “Skopin maniac”, about the concealment of the murder, has been completed. Skopinsky District Court of the Ryazan Region TASSthat the case has been received and assigned to a judge.

Viktor Mokhov is charged with Part 2 of Art. 316 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (previously not promised concealment of especially serious crimes). The interlocutor of the Russian state agency in law enforcement agencies said that two more people are accused of the crime. Yevgeny Polishchuk is charged with intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, which led to death by negligence (part 4 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), Alexei Arkhipov, as well as Viktor Mokhov, is accused of concealing the murder (part 2 of article 316 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The criminal case was initiated in August 2022. According to investigators, the “Skopin maniac” helped the killer to transfer the body to the courtyard of an abandoned house. Initially, he was sent under house arrest, but later the preventive measure was changed to a pre-trial detention center, as he violated the conditions of detention. At the end of February 2023, Viktor Mokhov was released from the pre-trial detention center, as the deadline for detention had expired.

Viktor Mokhov was sentenced in 2005 to 16 years and 10 months in prison for crimes against sexual freedom and sexual inviolability of minors. In 2000, he kidnapped two girls aged 14 and 17 and kept them in the basement of an outbuilding for four years. He repeatedly raped the girls. One of them gave birth to children from him. The offender was released in March 2021, he was placed under supervision for six years.
