Construction of pipeline for future LNG terminal begins in Germany


    In Germany, work has begun on the construction of a pipeline to connect the gas storage facility with a terminal under construction for receiving liquefied natural gas (LNG). The German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection also emphasized that the LNG terminal in Wilhelmshaven, Germany should be put into operation at the end of this year.

    “Construction of the LNG terminal in Wilhelmshaven is moving forward! Today also started (construction.— “b”) of the gas pipeline to the gas storage facility in Etzel. Work is progressing according to plan,” the ministry said on Twitter.

    German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced the construction of two LNG terminals in Germany to reduce the country’s dependence on energy supplies from Russia in February, after the start of military operations in Ukraine. The announcement about the start of construction of a new gas pipeline was made against the background of the situation around the reduction in gas supplies from Russia via Nord Stream and problems with the transportation of a turbine for the gas pipeline from Canada.
