When applying to hospitals and polyclinics, Russians will no longer need a paper CHI policy: this document will go into digital format. The relevant provisions of the law dated December 6, 2021 No. 405-FZ come into force on December 1.
The new form of the document will be “a unique sequence of characters in a machine-readable form”. It is planned to assign the code in the unified register of insured persons in the CHI system. It will be possible to store the document, for example, in a smartphone.
The compulsory medical insurance policy is a document that gives Russians the right to receive free medical care. It allows you to call a doctor at home, undergo examinations, be treated in a clinic and hospital.
Now the policy can be obtained both on paper and in the form of a barcode. When visiting a doctor, it will be enough to present a passport or other identity document.
In addition, a government decree approved the procedure for maintaining personalized records in the field of CHI. The Federal Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund and insurance medical organizations will be engaged in personalized accounting of information about insured persons, and medical organizations – accounting for the medical care provided. The State information system of compulsory medical insurance will help to ensure the process.
