College Football Playoff rankings: USC moves up to No. 4 ahead of Ohio State at No. 5

USC is within the high 4 of the College Football Playoff rankings.

The Trojans’ win over Notre Dame and Michigan’s win over Ohio State pushed USC up two spots and into the highest 4 within the penultimate rankings of the season. If USC beats Utah within the Pac-12 title sport on Friday evening, the Trojans shall be within the College Football Playoff.

Georgia remained at No. 1 whereas Michigan moved up to No. 2 and TCU moved up to No. 3. The Buckeyes are at No. 5 ahead of Alabama at No. 6 and are poised to doubtlessly transfer into the playoff on the ultimate week of the season regardless of lacking out on the Big Ten title sport if TCU or USC lose.

The high 4 groups in Tuesday evening’s rankings ahead of convention championship weekend was in the end unsurprising. All 4 groups within the high 4 are favored of their title video games and can make the playoff with wins.

Ohio State misplaced by 22 to Michigan on Saturday and shall be on the sideline. That loss may stop Ohio State from transferring into the highest 4 if USC or TCU loses a detailed sport. Utah is ranked at No. 11 and Kansas State is at No. 10. The committee confirmed Tuesday evening that it thinks extremely of each of their opponents.

Tennessee is at No. 7 and in line for a spot in a New Year’s Six Bowl ahead of Penn State and Clemson. The Tigers didn’t drop out of the highest 10 regardless of dropping to South Carolina on Saturday and play No. 23 North Carolina for the ACC title. The winner of that sport will go to the Orange Bowl.

The closing set of playoff rankings are set to be revealed on Sunday at Noon ET. Those rankings will decide the playoff subject and the individuals within the Cotton, Orange, Rose and Sugar Bowls. The relaxation of the bowl matchups shall be introduced within the hours after the New Year’s Six video games are revealed.
