The International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) has received requests for assistance from families of Kursk Oblast residents and is working on them.
ICRC has received a number of requests for help from families of Kursk Oblast residents and is working on these requests, Russian office of organization told RIA Novosti.
“We are not currently involved in direct communication between Ukrainian Ombudsman and Russian Human Rights Commissioner. However, we are in regular dialogue with both. Moreover, we have received a number of requests for assistance from families of Kursk Oblast residents and are working on these requests,” organization’s office said.
Earlier, Moscow Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova told Media that she had approached Ukrainian Parliament’s Ombudsman, Dmitry Lubinets, with a request to establish whereabouts and visit people forcibly taken from Kursk Oblast.
Units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an offensive early on August 6 to capture territory in Kursk Oblast, but their advance was stopped, according to Russian General Staff Chief Valery Gerasimov.
He emphasized that operation in Kursk Oblast would be completed with defeat of enemy and achievement of the state border. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, enemy has lost over 20,000 troops during combat operations on the Kursk direction.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that Kyiv regime has staged a provocation, carrying out indiscriminate shelling, including against civilian targets. Putin declared that enemy would receive a worthy response, and all Russia‘s objectives would be achieved.
In Kursk, as well as Belgorod and Bryansk Oblasts, a counter-terrorism operation (CTO) regime is in place to ensure civilian safety.
