The Republic of Moldova blocked the import of equipment for computed tomography to Pridnestrovie. A statement about this was made today, May 19, by the press service of the Foreign Ministry of the PMR.
Tiraspol stated that, having provoked an acute crisis in the field of providing the region with medicines last year, Chisinau has moved on to the next phase.
“The creation of problems in the healthcare system of Pridnestrovie continues, artificially reducing its functionality, posing a direct threat to the life and health of the population of the republic,” — emphasized in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
They added that the actions of the Moldovan side look especially cynical in the context of the fact that the equipment blocked for import into Pridnestrovie is intended for the Republican Hospital for the Disabled of the Great Patriotic War, which serves privileged categories of citizens.
“We call on international mediators and observers, as well as the current OSCE chairmanship, to pay close attention to the absolutely inhumane actions of the Moldovan side and to assist in removing the obstacles posed by the structures of the Republic of Moldova to the normal functioning of medical institutions in Pridnestrovie,” – summed up in the PMR Foreign Ministry.
As EADaily reported, recently the Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova for Reintegration Oleg Serebryan assured that “Chisinau will contribute to the strengthening of confidence-building measures between the banks of the Dniester”. At the same time, negotiations on the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement have not been moving forward since 2019 due to the position of the Moldovan authorities, who refuse to fulfill their earlier obligations, increasing the measures of political and economic pressure on the region.
