The Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday apprehended a Chinese national from near the India-Bangladesh International Border in West Bengal. A BSF team apprehended the 35-year-old man at around 7 am when he was “infiltrating” Indian territory by crossing the border in Malda district, they said. He was wearing a black shirt, pants and shoes.
Chinese passport, Bangladeshi visa, a laptop and three mobile phone SIM cards were found from the man. Security officials have identified him as Junwei Han. He has been kept at the Kaliachak post of the Border Security Force. A BSF spokesperson in Delhi said, “The concerned agencies are questioning the man.”
Sources said the Chinese probably does not understand English. Therefore a security officer capable of conversing in Chinese has been called for a joint questioning session by officials of the BSF, local police and intelligence agencies. He said the reason for his coming to India would be clear only after interrogation.
