Chinese commercial quadcopters have revolutionized the use of traditional cannon and rocket artillery. This opinion was expressed by the ex-Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General of the Army Yuri Baluyevsky, his words are published in the preface to the CAST book “Alien Wars: A New Paradigm”.
“Simple Chinese-made commercial quadrocopters have made a real revolution in the use of traditional cannon and rocket artillery, almost completely solving the age-old problem of reconnaissance, target designation and artillery fire adjustment for it,” — leads words of the general RIA Novosti.
According to him, it is now possible to use artillery with conventional projectiles with accuracy and efficiency comparable to firing precision-guided munitions. In addition, the number of projectiles used has also decreased. Baluyevsky stressed that this was the impetus for the return of traditional artillery to the “pedestal of the god of war.”
“As one of the observers rightly put it, the Mavic quadrocopter of the Chinese company DJI has become a true symbol of modern warfare in principle,” — writes Baluevsky.
According to the general, the same applies to simple and inexpensive aircraft-type UAVs, for example, domestic-made Orlan-10. An additional advantage of this drone is that it is equipped with gasoline engines instead of electric ones. At the same time, he is sure that the integration of drones with high-precision weapons has not yet exhausted the possibilities.
