Chinese hackers, allegedly linked to the government, have been targeting U.S. internet service providers (ISPs) for several months, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
The hackers have been infiltrating broadband networks, aiming to either steal sensitive information from telecommunications companies or launch harmful cyberattacks, the report says.
The U.S. government has frequently accused Chinese-affiliated hackers of targeting its computer systems and critical infrastructure.

“Hackers linked to the Chinese government have targeted a number of U.S. Internet service providers in recent months in search of sensitive information,” the publication said, citing anonymous sources familiar with the matter.
China consistently denies these claims, often countering with accusations that the U.S. itself engages in cyberattacks.
