China issues a blue freeze warning

The China Meteorological Administration has issued a blue cold wave warning, the first of the second half of 2022, predicting large temperature swings and storms across vast regions of the country, Xinhua news agency reported Oct. 2.

From October 2 to 4, temperatures are expected to drop by 8 to 12 degrees Celsius across much of central and eastern China, according to China’s National Meteorological Center. Parts of the provincial regions, including Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Henan, Hubei, Anhui and Jiangsu, could see temperatures drop by more than 18 degrees Celsius, the center said.

Storms are expected to hit waters in the Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea, East China Sea, the Yangtze River Basin and areas north of it. The center advised the public to take the necessary precautions against temperature changes and proposed to strengthen temporary and tall structures from strong…
