New developments have surfaced regarding China’s Defense Minister, Li Shangfu. Reports suggest that the country has launched an investigation into the minister, although the Defense Ministry has dismissed the allegations against Dong Jun as fabricated.
Defense Ministry spokesperson Wu Qian labeled these allegations as baseless and rejected them entirely during a Thursday briefing.
“These reports are outright fabrications, and those spreading these rumors have hidden agendas. China expresses strong dissatisfaction,” Wu stated.
Earlier, the issue gained significant media attention. The Financial Times, citing unnamed U.S. officials, reported that Chinese authorities had initiated an investigation into Defense Minister Dong Jun over a corruption scandal.

Meanwhile, Mao Ning, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, described these reports as “chasing shadows.”
