The United States has warned China of the consequences of potentially providing lethal weapons to Russia for use in the conflict in Ukraine. This will be a red line, US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said in an interview with CNN, aired today, February 19.

“We welcome the fact that China [на Мюнхенской конференции по безопасности] declared that he wanted peace [на Украине], because that’s what we always strive for in situations like this. But we are also clear that if there is any intention or effort to support Russia [в конфликте на Украине], then this is unacceptable. This will become a red line, the US envoy said.

According to her, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken spoke clearly to China about the consequences of such a move.

“We are not going to get ahead of ourselves and announce our plans, but we have made clear to China that there will be consequences if they make such an unfavorable decision,” Thomas-Greenfield noted, citing excerpts from TASS.

Earlier, Blinken said that China was allegedly considering the possibility of providing Russia with military assistance.
