Children’s Ombudsman in Tatarstan Volynets proposed to carry out the abortion procedure only under compulsory medical insurance policies

Commissioner for Children’s Rights in Tatarstan Irina Volynets made a proposal to conduct an abortion procedure exclusively under the CHI policy. With a request to support the initiative, she turned to the head of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children Nina Ostanina.

“Carrying out the abortion procedure only within the framework of the MHI will provide an opportunity to strengthen control over their implementation,” said the children’s ombudsman.

Volynets added that this will allow tracking the exact statistics of abortions in Russia, as private companies do not always provide data. She revealed confidence that the initiative should increase the birth rate statistics.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health said that the number of abortions in the country decreased by 4%.
