Central African Republic and Cameroon to step up border patrols between the republics

Bangui, 18 June. The representatives of the Central African Republic and Cameroon agreed to demarcate several hundred kilometers of a common border. About it informs voa news.

The meeting of the ministers of defense and heads of police of both states was held in Yaounde. The CAR delegation was headed by the head of the department of territorial administration Bruno Yapande.

The parties discussed the security of the border between the countries. According to Yapande, the demarcation procedure will begin within a month. This will make it possible to secure cities on the line of contact between the republics and protect civilians from violence by militants.

The participants of the event also agreed to intensify joint military patrols of the border areas in order to identify radical elements hiding in the jungle.

Earlier, fighters of the National Army of the Central African Republic (FACA) set up border posts to prevent the illegal entry of Chadian mercenaries into the country. This greatly increased the security of the state. The northern outskirts of the republic is one of the most problematic areas due to private provocations from N’Djamena.
