The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on e-commerce company Flipkart for allowing sale of poor-quality domestic pressure cookers. Apart from this, the e-commerce company has also been asked by the CCPA to submit the report within 45 days. Apart from this, Flipkart has also been instructed to inform the users about this.

Speaking to PTI, CCPA Chief Commissioner Nidhi Khare said on Wednesday that Flipkart was fined Rs 1,00,000 for allowing the sale of substandard pressure cookers on its e-commerce platform and violating the rights of consumers. Is. He further said that Flipkart has also been asked to inform the consumers about all the 598 pressure cookers sold on its platform.

The CCPA has also directed the e-commerce company to recall such pressure cookers sold so far. Along with this, Flipkart has been instructed to compensate for the money spent by the users. Apart from this, the company has also been asked to submit the compliance report within 45 days.

What is CCPA and what is authority?
The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) prevents the spread of misleading and wrong things to the people. Under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 (Act 35 of 2019), the CCPA is empowered to issue necessary guidelines to prevent unfair practices. It takes care of the interests of the consumer and keeps the business system in order. On the other hand, if any e-commerce or other company spreads misleading advertisements and inappropriate things, then the advertisements have the right to be notified by the CCPA and impose fine.

If such a case comes in front of you as well, then you can file a complaint from home without going to the consumer court. Under the Consumer Protection Act, a portal consumerhelpline.gov.in has been developed by NIC for registering consumer complaints online.

To register a complaint online, one has to first visit this portal.
After this, now you can create an account by filling in your name, number, and other details.

Once you are registered you can make your complaint.
Consumers can also track the registered complaint to see what action has been taken on it.

Apart from this, you can also complain by calling 1800-11-4000 or 14404 or 1915 and sending an SMS to 8130009809 with complete details of the complaint. Calls can be made only from 8 AM to 8 PM in the evening. At the same time, by registering on the NCH app and UMANG app, you can also lodge a complaint.
