A nine-month-old girl evacuated from Afghanistan died after arriving in the United States, according to the CBS television channel.
The girl, along with her father, was on board a Boeing C-17 military transport aircraft, which delivered Afghan refugees from Germany to Philadelphia.
During the flight, the child lost consciousness. At the airport in Philadelphia, the plane was met by an ambulance. The girl died shortly after she was taken to the hospital. An investigation into the causes and circumstances of the girl’s death has begun in the city.
As the channel notes, this is the first death among Afghan refugees who arrived in the United States after the fall of Kabul.
In early August, the Taliban (the Taliban movement * was recognized as terrorist in the Russian Federation and prohibited) stepped up their offensive against government forces in Afghanistan, entered the capital on August 15, and announced on August 16 that the war in Afghanistan was over.
The only province not under their control is Panjshir, located in a mountainous area northeast of Kabul. On the night of August 31, the US military left the Kabul airport, ending the US military presence in Afghanistan.
