Canada and the United States discussed the impact of Russian aggression on food security


The US and Canada discussed the impact of the war in Ukraine on global food security.

“U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and I spoke about Putin’s war in Ukraine and how his actions affect food security around the world,” Joly wrote.

She stressed that the US and Canada “have always worked together to empower people in both countries.”

As reported, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), as of early May, about 25 million tons of grain were stuck in Ukraine. Grain cannot be exported due to Russian blockade of seaports and problems with infrastructure.
