Indian Home Minister Amit Shah accused by Canadian government. He has been accused of conspiring against the Canadian Sikh community. This leads to bad relations between the two countries. Reports CBC News, citing Deputy Foreign Minister David Morrison.
This problem started in the month of October when India announced the expulsion of six Canadian diplomats, to which Canada responded by expelling six Indian diplomats, accusing them of involvement in a plot to kill Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs rejected Canada’s accusations. Despite the allegations, Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly emphasized that Canada seeks cooperation with New Delhi on investigating Nijjar’s murder, not diplomatic conflict.
“Morrison confirmed that Shah allegedly involved in organizing these plots”, as he told reporters, according to CBC News.
Relations between India and Canada soured in September 2023 after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated that police suspected Indian authorities were linked to the murder of Sikh community leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.
