The speech of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) showed the confidence of the Russian leader. This was stated by the editor-in-chief of the RT television channel Margarita Simonyan.
After the session, the journalist said that, after listening to the president, she felt a “psychotherapeutic effect” from the confidence that came from the politician. Simonyan also noted Putin’s goodwill and calmness.
“For me, the most important thing was the criticism of the West – this is not the first time we hear this and we say it ourselves, it was not so much the speech that was important for me, but the emotion that I felt … It can be seen that the person is calm, confident, in a great mood, very benevolent. People don’t behave like this, people who are not sure of their victory and that everything will be fine don’t spread such an emotion around them, ”the editor-in-chief shared her impressions.
Simonyan added that it does not matter what reaction to the speech of the Russian leader will follow from the West. According to the journalist, the opinion of the United States and Europe will not change Russia’s policy.
Putin, in his speech at SPIEF, touched upon a number of topical issues related to the development of Russia, events in Ukraine, as well as the global economy. The Russian president’s speech lasted more than an hour.
