The city of Palm Beach, Florida, where the residence of former US President and presidential candidate Donald Trump is located, has requested financial assistance from federal authorities, as the cost of maintaining the former president’s security has become too high, according to Bloomberg.
“Palm Beach, one of the wealthiest cities in the US, is seeking government support after the cost of securing its most famous resident, former President Donald Trump, skyrocketed to $93,000 per day,” the publication states.
The agency notes that the city, with an annual budget of $8 billion, increased its security spending for the former president after a July assassination attempt in Pennsylvania. However, a second attempt, which occurred on a golf course in neighboring West Palm Beach, just a few kilometers from Trump’s residence, prompted the US Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies to request further funding increases.

The second attempt on Trump’s life occurred on September 15 at a golf club in Florida. According to law enforcement, Secret Service agents opened fire on the perpetrator, who was hiding in bushes. The man escaped and tried to flee in a car but was detained. An AK-47 rifle with an optical scope, two backpacks, and a GoPro action camera were found at the scene. The FBI has joined the investigation. The first attempt on Trump’s life occurred on July 13 in Pennsylvania.
The US presidential election is scheduled for November 5. Vice President Harris will represent the Democratic Party, while former President Trump will represent the Republican Party.
