Gujarat Assembly Election 2022: BJP candidate Piyush Patel, who is contesting the Gujarat Assembly elections from Vansda Assembly constituency in Navsari district, was allegedly attacked by unknown persons ahead of the first phase of Gujarat Assembly Elections-2022. Piyush Patel was in Jhari village of Vansda when miscreants vandalized his car. He suffered a head injury in the attack. The BJP has accused Congress candidate Anant Patel’s supporters of the attack.
The report of the incident has been registered at Vansda police station. Piyush Patel’s supporters raised slogans against the Congress party outside Vansda police station. The incident happened on Wednesday late night.
Vansda is one of the 182 assembly constituencies of Gujarat. It is a part of Navsari district and is reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates. As part of the first phase of polling, voting is also taking place on the Vansda Gujarat seat.

Voting is being held on 89 seats in the first phase in Gujarat.
Voting for the first phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections began at 8 am on Thursday amid tight security arrangements. Voting is being held today in 89 constituencies spread over 19 districts of Kutch, Saurashtra and South Gujarat. Voting will be done till 5 pm. There are 788 candidates in the fray for the first phase.
More than 2 crore voters will decide the fate of political parties today. There are a total of 2,39,76,670 voters. The voters are 1,24,33,362 males, 1,1,5,42,811 females and 497 of the third gender. More than 4 lakh PWD voters are eligible to cast their votes. About 9.8 lakh senior citizen voters (80+) and about 10,000 voters who are 100 and above are eligible to vote.
Gujarat is going to vote in two phases on December 1 and 5. The counting of votes will take place on December 8.
