General of the armed forces of Germany Eberhard Zorn will be dismissed after his statements that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not be able to effectively resist the Russian army in Ukraine. The corresponding decision was made by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, they write in the German press.

“In September 2022, in an interview with Focus magazine, Eberhard Zorn doubted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would be able to effectively resist Russian troops. In particular, he said that Ukraine is conducting counterattacks, but cannot push Russia back on a broad front, ”Bild journalists report.

Zorn was appointed to the post of Inspector General of the German Armed Forces five years ago by former Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen. According to the publication, he will be replaced by the current head of the territorial command, Lieutenant General Carsten Breuer. He is known for leading the activities of the anti-crisis headquarters for combating coronavirus infection under the Office of the Federal Chancellor during the pandemic.

This is not the first scandalous situation in the German administration related to statements about the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
