US President Joe Biden officially announced that he continued the state of emergency in connection with the actions and policies of the regime of the Republic of Belarus, which provides for the extension of sanctions against the authorities of this country.
This is stated in a post on White House official websitereports Ukrinform.
“The actions and policies of certain members of the Belarusian government and others, as well as the malicious activities of the Belarusian regime and persistent abuses, continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States,” the document says.
In this regard, the President noted that after June 16, the state of emergency related to the Republic of Belarus continues for another year.
As reported, on June 16, 2006, the US President issued Decree No. 13405 on the introduction of an emergency situation related to the policy of the government of Belarus, which included, among other things, the introduction of restrictions against the authorities of this country. In August 2021, the head of the White House extended this decree after the Belarusian regime held illegal elections and tried to suppress the basic rights and freedoms of people in the country.
The action of the decrees of the President of the United States gives him the right to introduce emergency situations for a period of a year, after which he can continue them according to the appropriate procedure.
