According to her, the board of the American leader landed at LaGuardia airport at 20:51 local time (03:51 Moscow time). The President and the First Lady traveled to the Manhattan area, where a mourning ceremony will take place at a memorial to victims of terrorist attacks on Saturday.
On Friday evening, there are no events in the schedule of the American leader. Biden will travel to Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and the capital’s suburbs after the ceremony in New York on Saturday.
On September 11, 2001, 19 terrorists from the Al-Qaeda group (banned in the Russian Federation) seized four passenger airliners in the United States. They sent two of them to the towers of the World Trade Center – the tallest buildings at that time in New York, the third – to the Pentagon building in the suburbs of Washington. The fourth plane was also heading towards the American capital, but crashed near the city of Shanksville. As a result of the terrorist attacks, 2,977 people were killed, who were citizens of 90 countries, more than 6 thousand people were injured.
